As one of the county's oldest non-profit organizations, Butte Humane Society has been fulfilling its vital mission of Saving Lives, Finding Homes, Inspiring Compassion, since 1911. Today, in addition to providing a nurturing and safe environment for unwanted and abandoned animals while they await permanent placement, BHS operates a successful low-cost spay and neuter program that also offers low-cost vaccinations and wellness treatment. Other successful programs include humane education, community outreach, pet therapy and volunteer and foster care programs.

Reducing the incidence and limiting the consequences of developmental disabilities through information, advocacy and support of families, friends and the community.

Catalyst Domestic Violence Services is a private, not-for-profit corporation and is the sole certified provider of crisis intervention services for victims of domestic violence and their children in Butte County. Our mission is “to prevent and reduce the incidence of intimate partner violence through crisis intervention services, community education, and the promotion of healthy relationships."

The Torres Community Shelter, established in 1998 is a non-profit organization that serves 160 men, women, and families. It is the largest shelter north of Sacramento which operates 365 days a year. It is our mission to move people forward, thus connecting them to resources they need to increase their stability both financially and emotionally; with the ultimate goal of being permanently housed. We not only provide nightly shelter, with a hot dinner, showers and laundry service, but every guest that stays with us is connected to a service coordinator that creates a individualized case plan to help ease them back into housing.
